Shiki VS Kat

"Gravity is love and every turn is a leap of faith."

-Warren Miller

Shiki Granbell, the Demon King

Kat, the Gravity Queen

Gravity is the very force that binds reality itself, both the literal phenomenon of space-time, and the tendency to attract other people together - both of which are especially useful if you are a weirdo with no past, traveling the land and saving the day from an impending existential threat to all life. When the Demon King and the Gravity Queen face off, who will fall off the Earth in a DEATH BATTLE?

Background

Shiki

I don't follow your rules. My friend is more important. And I'm not some hero fighting for justice... If you hurt my friends... I'll show you the kind of Demon King I can be!!”

In a world of isolation everything eventually comes together even if it feels out of reach. The threads of destiny weave a compelling tale of a young man named Shiki Granbell. His journey began many years ago when the Demon King Ziggy discovered him from the destroyed ruins of a planet once known as Earth and brought him to the planet of robots Granbell. Under the tutelage of his adoptive grandfather. Shiki gazed at the stars learning profound lessons about exploration and the importance of forging connections. That should he ever leave his home, it should be about adventure and the bonds he can find. As Shiki grew he developed a unique perspective on the universe, understanding the value of creating his own path and forming bonds with those around him. The cosmos, once distant and unreachable, slowly revealed its interconnected nature to him. The key to unraveling the mysteries of his existence lay in the stars and the friendships he was destined to make.

Years later, Shiki's solitary existence was disrupted by the unexpected arrival of two companions, Rebecca and Happy. Crash-landing on Granbell, they initially hesitated to embrace a friendship with Shiki, who grappled with the challenges of human interaction. However, when a rebellion among robots threatened to unleash vengeance upon humanity, Shiki's latent powers emerged via the Ether Gear. With determination and newfound abilities from the Ether Gear he managed to thwart the robotic uprising, later joining Rebecca and Happy as he departed the planet that once sheltered him. In that pivotal moment, Shiki embarked on a cosmic odyssey, fulfilling the aspirations his grandfather had instilled in him. Joining a guild and venturing into the Sakura Cosmos, he set out to make a hundred friends across the universe as gravity holds him and his friends close together. Shiki would become the new Demon King.

Kat

“Preserved... You mean you want to stop time? How's that supposed to help anyone? Towns and people change. That's what gives us hope, that's what gives us dreams. I want to see Newt and Echo's baby. I want time to keep doing what it does! I'd rather be dead than become some frozen statue.”

In this world there are only two truths. What we know and who we are - so what happens when you lose those truths? Princess Alua was from a kingdom high at the top of the World Pillar named Eto. It was a kingdom characterized by its status, grace and the fact that it stood above everything else below it, And Alua was selected to rule even in spite of her inability to manifest a guardian, the true mark of royalty for an Eto Queen. She faced copious amounts of harsh words, bullying and disrespect. However, that did not stop her. Even if she wasn’t sure of herself she was sure of one thing, that she would do whatever she could to help as many people as possible. This culminated when she found out that certain doom was lingering on the horizon of appearance in just a short thousand years, however her concern was not for the people at the top even though she cared about her own kingdom. It was the people at the bottom, those that had no way to avoid the destruction that she was concerned for. This caused her to take action towards saving those at the bottom. This act of community and kindness however was not appreciated by the people and or government of her kingdom, which could only end how one would expect. They attempted to get rid of her, using the Chancellor of Senate Xicero to do the deed.

Xicero pushed her off the towering kingdom towards her death in hopes that it would end her. Their plan was to replace Alua with someone else that was more in line with how they thought. However in this moment she awakened the thing she sought but was unable to attain to save herself. Her guardian, a purple galaxy colored cat named Dusty came to her aid and saved her from falling to her death. Unfortunately the feline couldn’t save her completely. She unfortunately hit her head causing her to forget everything about her origin and mission. The mysterious woman who would now be known as Kat would then wake up in an unfamiliar part of a city inside of an abandoned slum, completely unable to remember anything with an equally unfamiliar feline next to her. She would then be thrusted into a battle to save a child that was caught in a deadly and frightening Gravity Storm. In the heat of the moment she would unlock her powers realizing they were connected to the mysterious cat as she saved the child from certain death. She doesn’t understand why she attempted to save the kid at this moment, only that she wanted to do so from the bottom of her heart. She would then continue this streak of heroism as monsters known as nevi began to attack the city, taking up the task without a second thought. Despite her chaotic situation, her inability to remember her own past, the growing political talks surrounding her name and the city she still chose to do what she could to help. This gained her respect and admiration from the city and even the city's government. She became a superhero - The Gravity Queen. She helped many people from the affluent to the poor. Gravity holds everyone together with no bias to be found. Even in spite of not knowing who she was, she still stayed true to herself.

Skills

Shiki

Satan Gravity

Satan Gravity is an Ether Gear that utilizes the power of gravity as it allows the user to freely control their personal gravity to perform numerous unorthodox maneuvers. It ranges between anything from levitating in the middle of the air to falling sideways to controlling and altering one’s own density; the user can even shoot blasts of compressed gravity and repel objects with the usage of an anti-gravity field. The effect of this can also be applied to any person or object that the user comes in contact with. Additionally, due to an unknown phenomenon caused by buoyancy, whilst underwater the ether gear is prone to malfunctions or accidents causing their gravity to act irrationally underwater. Shiki inherited this Ether Gear from Ziggy, and took about a month to fully learn it. After training under Xenolith, Shiki improved his usage of Satan Gravity even more.

Kat

Normal Style

As the name implies, this is Kat’s standard state of combat, and generally the most well rounded for Gravity Shifting. While in this mode, Kat has complete control over her aerial movement, though not in the same sense as flying. Instead, as the name implies, Kat can “shift” gravity in any given direction and sort of just let gravity pull her, and can extend this to people and objects within close proximity of her. This isn’t just limited to traversing through the air though, as she can also walk on walls, or in offensive cases can bounce off enemies after attacking, allowing her to chain hits together. Each individual style has its own series of moves, even the standard style who’s moves can be used in combination with other styles. Although Kat is mostly self-taught, she did receive some training to use her powers from The Other, an interdimensional fusion of her and Raven’s gravity powers.

Lunar Style

Lunar Style is one of Kat’s two attainable alterations to her normal Gravity Shifting, with this form having an emphasis on mobility over power. Fitting the “lunar” aspect, Kat’s weight is drastically reduced, weakening the effects of gravity on her.  This naturally makes her much more agile, but not necessarily faster, as her gravity focused abilities lose some speed, in exchange for easier control. Her attacks naturally become weaker in this form, but can be fired in rapid succession, emphasizing fighting with more hit and run and long range attacks.

Jupiter Style

Jupiter Style is the other alteration to Kat’s normal style, and given that it’s the opposite of Lunar Style, Jupiter Style greatly increases Kat’s weight. This gives her a massive boost in power at the cost of slower attacks, but her gravity abilities also become much faster. Guarding against attacks while in this form also stuns opponents, allowing Kat to immediately counter attack. She is so heavy while using Jupiter State that she can destroy whole objects just by walking near them.

Equipment

Shiki

X-Ray Goggles

A pair of goggles Shiki picked up from Weisz’s house that possesses an X-Ray function, allowing Shiki to see through the upper layers of robotic composition and clothes.

Cosmo Energy

Need to fight in space? Be sure to grab a can of Sister's Cosmo Energy! With this, Shiki can enter the vacuum of space and be just fine, without any apparent need for oxygen or dangers from an unprotected vacuum.

Kat

Dusty

Dusty is a cat shaped guardian owned by Kat that allows Kat to manipulate and control gravity and without him her powers cannot be utilized. Guardians are mysterious creatures that appear as companions to members of the Eto royal family. If Kat were to ever be in serious danger, Dusty can also teleport her away, or merge with her to form Panther Mode. Dusty even seems to be able to fight enemies himself, if he must. While Kat is fighting or flying, Dusty can dematerialize himself, sort of dissipating into nothing until he wishes to reform.

Talismans

There are talismans that Kat can equip and utilize to enhance her combat capabilities. Talismans appear as talisman stones after breaking gravity ore deposits, which are green stones of various sizes that can appear on the ground, walls, and ceilings in any mining location. The stones consist of three possible types and five possible grades. These can range from stat upgrades to ability upgrades with each type corresponding to a certain style.

Flower, Shell, and Seed are the three individual types that each correspond and make Lunar Style, Normal Style and Jupiter Style better respectively. The six grades are Dull, Rough, Bright, Shiny, Radiant, and Brilliant. Each grade obviously increases the quality and effectiveness of the item. There are too many specific types of talismans to list off, so instead we will list all of the effects that talismans can give to Kat.

Abilities

Shiki

Demon King Ether

Shiki’s ether gear enables him the ability to freely manipulate his own gravity, allowing him to “fall” in any direction to attain a form of flight. He can also accelerate his own gravity to increase the power of his attacks, or even affect the gravity of others. Lastly, Shiki can use his gravity to “slide” across the ground.

Gravity Fist

Gravity Fist is a technique in which Shiki’s arm momentarily glows and powers up before he unleashes a devastating punch that slams the opponent.

Gravity Center

Gravity Center is a technique where Shiki uses his ability to manipulate gravity to exert an extreme amount of force onto an airborne target through direct contact via boosting his own gravity thus pulling the target downward. Xenolith, who Shiki is comparable to, seemed to be able to do this to multiple people at once without direct contact, and Shiki himself did this later.

Gravity Wave

Gravity Wave is a technique in which Shiki places a hand onto the ground and uses his manipulation of gravity to create a center point on the ground that then begins pulling everyone in the near vicinity towards.

Gravity Fist Frenzy

Gravity Fist Frenzy is what happens when Shiki decides to spam Gravity Fist taking a page out of Jotaro’s book as he launches a barrage of amped punches towards his opponent, sending them flying with a final decisive punch.

Gravity Windmill Kick

Gravity Windmill Kick is a midair technique in which Shiki stops his momentum using his gravitational manipulation before unloading a double roundhouse kick with both legs at a pursuing opponent.

Gravity Cannon

Getting to the meat of Shiki’s arsenal the Gravity Cannon is a technique in which Shiki uses his gravity manipulation to create a sphere of energy, his fist launching into his victim target as it punches them back due to the sheer weight and heaviness of the ball itself.

Gravity Comet

Shiki enhances his feet with gravity as he jumps from above his opponent slamming down onto them crushing them with blunt force.

Gravity Tackle

Gravity Tackle is a technique in which Shiki rotates himself midair with gravity as he essentially arcs around before pushing himself downward into his opponent to slam them with a downward kick from the free-throw line sending them to ground.

Gravity Impact

Gravity Impact is one of Shiki’s strongest techniques. He absorbs kinetic energy from an outside source before converting it directly to concentrated gravity as he lands a devastating downward punch for massive damage.

Gravity Field

Gravity Field is a technique in which Shiki slams his fist into the ground creating a center of gravity which creates a gravitational field that crushes and negates attacks.

Gravity Bullets

Gravity Bullets is a ranged technique Shiki created. He creates small spheres of gravity and fires them at his opponent, shooting a modest amount at his foe.

Anti-Gravity

Anti Gravity is a technique in which Shiki generates an anti-gravitational field in the form of a bubble-like sphere around whatever he touches, causing it to be flung in the opposite direction of Shiki at high speeds. It is commonly used to deflect projectiles defensively.

Wormhole

Wormhole is an ability that Shiki received from battling Ziggy. He is able to create wave-like portals to far away locations essentially hopping from point a to point b skipping the distance between said points. He has also shown to be able to use it mid-battle for combat purposes.

Meteor Breaker

Meteor Breaker is a technique where Shiki charges his ether near or at the end of his fist to turn it into a gravity sphere then he launches it at the opponent as the sphere turns into a gravity meteor of punishment.

Psuedo-Black Hole

While in Overdrive, Shiki was able to create a center of gravity around his hand that was collapsing the entire room inwards towards him, sort of emulating the effects of a black hole.

Black Sky

Shiki’s most powerful technique which he uses when it’s all or nothing time. He uses his gravity manipulation to strengthen the weight of his heart, this in turn creates a powerful orb of gravity that continues to grow bigger and bigger before he tosses it at his opponent and it explodes in a brilliant dance of motion, weight and power.

Memory Absorption

This ability of Shiki's isn't entirely explained, but at certain points Shiki's gravity has somehow allowed him to view certain memories of others. Shiki does not seem to have manual control over this power to activate it however.

Kat

Gravity Shifting

Kat is what is known as a Gravity Shifter, which means that she possesses total control over her own personal gravity and can manipulate it to suit her as she needs. Generally, she can use it to “fly”, but that's not quite an accurate term. In reality, she changes her gravity so that she doesn't fly up, but she falls up. She can shift her gravity in any direction, and can stand still on walls and ceilings as if they were the floor. Initially, she only had so much energy she could use to gravity shift, however the amount of upgrades she has received as well as talismans relating to her ability to shift gravity make this an effectively archaic weakness.

Stasis Field

Almost as if using telekinesis, Kat can create a Stasis Field to grab nearby objects and fling them at targets. She can charge it up as well to turn it into the Piercing Throw, causing objects to bounce multiple enemies, or if there’s only one target, simply hit them multiple times. It also has more defensive uses such as blocking and reflecting incoming projectiles, be they energy blasts or physical missiles. Her Stasis Field even appears to work on GHOOOOOOOOOOSTS!!!!!!!!

Vortex Field

The Lunar Style version of Stasis Field, it seemingly acts the same at first, but upon the thrown object hitting the target, they get trapped in a vortex for a few seconds. This temporarily will immobilize them and deal continuous damage while active. Choosing to charge it up will also increase the active duration by 4-5 seconds and grant up to a 2.5x increase in size.

Debris Ball

Guess Kat’s a fan of Katamari Damacy if this move is anything to go by. This is the Jupiter Style version of Stasis Field, and is basically its more aggressive version. While losing the defensive properties sucks, Kat can now compress any nearby objects into a ball of destruction to fling at enemies. Charging it up also increases its size and power, but consumes a maximum of 50% of her SP gauge.

Gravity Kick

Kat’s most basic and commonly used attack, it pairs well with gravity control as Kat uses her aerial momentum to increase the striking power. It can hit enemies on walls, on the ground, in the air, and hitting a target will cause her to bounce off and initiate another kick, which can increase her damage further with proper talismans equipped. Did you know that the creator of Gravity Rush is a Kamen Rider fan?

Wormhole Kick

This is the Lunar Style version of Gravity Kick. While this trades a good deal of power, the attack is much faster, able to deliver multiple hits to a target in rapid succession. As the name suggests, Kat can also use it to teleport to her target by creating a wormhole.

Surge Kick

The Jupiter Style version of Gravity Kick. Being the polar opposite of Lunar Style, Kat trades off mobility for a massive amount of power. On contact with the target, Kat unleashes damage that spreads out around the target, damaging anyone nearby. Further charging this increases the power and size, but it also immobilizes her. Normally this would leave her vulnerable, but certain talismans can prevent attacks from disrupting the charge. She is able to use the Surge Kick to blast through giant walls that obstruct her path.

Gravity Slide

The name basically describes its function. Kat can slide down vertical surfaces with ease. Lunar Style slows down the speed of this but grants far better control while Jupiter Style increases the speed, but makes maneuverability more difficult.  While using this, Kat can initiate a Slide Kick, which normally causes her to stumble, but in Jupiter Style she can tear right through enemies without issue. Upgrades can increase the effectiveness of the Gravity Slide and make it harder to interrupt.

Spring Jump

A Lunar Style move that allows Kat to jump far higher than normal, allowing her easy access to high places without even needing to shift gravity.

Rocket Jump

Another Lunar Style exclusive move, it’s similar to the Spring Jump but instead of jumping really high, Kat can jump really far. By upgrading it, Kat can also kick enemies while using the Rocket Jump. She’d probably do great in the Olympics with these moves.

Clone Detection

Thanks to Cyanea, Kat was granted the ability to “see the truth through unclouded eyes”. This would prove to be extremely useful when fighting Elektricitie, as Kat was able to detect the real Elektricitie from the clones.

Spiraling Claw

Kat presses her wrists together and performs a spin-dive towards enemies, tearing through them. She can also home in on any nearby enemies. This is also the first special move she can learn and is how she finishes off most bosses.

Gravity Typhoon

A Lunar Style exclusive attack in which Kat creates rock spikes to launch at the enemy (or just pulls in debris to throw). Precision isn’t required either since it’ll just auto target anyone close to her. It can be upgraded into the Gale Zone, which engulfs Kat in a whirlwind and makes her immune to damage.

Ultra Black Hole

A Jupiter Style attack, Kat becomes engulfed by a small (eventually large when upgraded), black hole. Small targets are immediately sucked in and destroyed. This move can also be upgraded to recover Kat's health when she kills an enemy with the black hole. She can take this a step further though as seen in her fight where she battled the Destructive Force, as Kat was forced to sacrifice herself by turning into a singularity to seal it away, though it is implied that she survived the ordeal and returned.

Hole in Space-Time

If need be, Kat can create a compressed ball of gravity so powerful that it rips a hole in space-time itself. Unleashing this power onto Gade, she was able to retrieve the Ark from the bottom of the World Pillar and bring it into Hekseville to smash into the Sea Anemone. No, you don't need to know the context.

Transformations

Shiki

Overdrive

The pinnacle of an Ether Gear, Overdrive is a state of being that Ether Gearists can achieve by allowing their Ether Gear’s power to flow throughout their entire body, which results in forming a brand new appearance similar to that of a machines; having three-dimensional lines of Ether surrounding their body and covering their skin. Along with the change of appearance, Overdrive also applies the biggest maximum boost to the user’s capabilities and allows them to perform feats their base Ether Gear would never achieve normally.

Initially Shiki could access only a psuedo form of Overdrive, with not as much of a physical change but with energy horns that identified him as the Demon King and boosted his capabilities, which proved itself to be outmatched quite easily by actualized Overdrives. However, his Overdrive would continuously evolve to become stronger and stronger over time. Overdrive does not last forever, however, so Shiki only uses it when he really needs to.

Overdrive Route: Ziggy

Overdrive in Edens Zero is actually very versatile in how it can be used. For instance, Shiki can use Overdrive to resemble and mimic his future self Ziggy for a short period of time.

Kat

Panther Mode

Kat can merge with Dusty to achieve a higher state of power, being Panther Mode. While in this form, Kat becomes much stronger and faster, can move through the air with no limitation, can teleport to immediately target an enemy, and can heal extremely quickly, although it has a time limit. Although the exact requirements to attain this form are left nebulous, we have a probable theory for what may cause this. There are two talisman effects which may affect the Panther Mode state, which are called “Anger” and “Rage”, and in Kat's battle with Elektricitie during a very dire and hopeless situation, she manually entered the form and actually had no time limit for the entire battle. The description for the mission also says that Kat swelled with rage and anger before transforming. Given circumstantial evidence, it's likely that her ability to use the form is tied to her emotions. Beyond this however, in Gravity Rush 1, Kat was able to enter Panther Mode whenever Dusty decided to do so.

Power

(You can do it, Ochako!)

Speed

Durability

Weaknesses

Shiki

Shiki can be somewhat naive and prone to go head first into situations. He is a shonen hero, after all. However, more notably than that, ether gear is susceptible to malfunction and shut off when exposed to something akin to an EMP, which would fully deactivate all of his gravity powers.

Kat

Kat's gravity powers rely entirely on her guardian Dusty, and if he is incapacitated in some way or affected with an illness, then that would negatively impact her ability to manipulate gravity. In addition, she does not have full control over Panther Mode, and can not choose to use it whenever she wants. Although through upgrades and talismans she can mitigate this to an extent, for the majority of the time her manipulation over gravity can only last as long as her stamina would allow.

Summary

Shiki

Advantages:

  • Panther Mode is not as reliable as Overdrive

  • Hair physics

Before The Verdicts

Gravity Rush Cosmology

Gravity Rush exists in a pretty esoteric setting, so let's ruin that by explaining exactly how it works.

In Gravity Rush, the “main” world is known as the World Pillar, its own spacetime that we know to be created by Gade, a creator God (although, we know Cyanae has some influence over its form as well). At the bottom of the World Pillar is a supermassive black hole that would eventually manifest into the Destructive Force and destroy all of creation. As a result of the gravitational pull of the black hole, time functions differently across the World Pillar.

At the bottom of the World Pillar exists the village of Boutoume, where time passes very slowly. A few days at the roots of the World Pillar would be equivalent to a full year in normal time. At the midsection of the World Pillars lies Hekseville, the main setting of the series where time flows relatively normally. Finally, At the top of the World Pillar is Eto, the place of the royals where time moves much quicker.

In addition to this, there are several other dimensions known as “rift planes” that Kat can access via Gade, who acts as a gateway between worlds - in Gravity Rush, the term “world” generally refers to the dimension that they are residing in. This is how Gade himself refers to worlds, but it also makes sense in the context of the other creators, Cyanae and Bit's role in the world, as their functions rely on concepts that are fundamental to the function of a system of reality - i.e. a universe.

Gade created the main dimension that contains Boutoume, Hekseville, Eto and the World Pillar, while Bit ensures that the reality based functions of the World remain intact, sort of like a universe system operator. What's even crazier is Cyanae's role in all of this; the entire world of Gravity Rush is effectively Cyanae's dream, and everything in it is formed as a figment of her imagination. While the Cyanae that we see sleeps, an entity known as the “Dream Guardian” takes control over her body ans keeps Cyanae in the realm between dreams and reality as she shapes the world while “dreaming”. Really abstract stuff.

When Lumino and Tenebria stole both Gade and Cyanae's power, Raven, who Kat is comparable to, defeated them both, overpowering a combined blast from the two. The Destructive Force also threatened to destroy all of creation, and Kat was able to battle him for a significant period of time without even having the need of help from Xii, only eventually needing it due to the Destructive Force's regenerative properties.

So, that's all well and good, but how big is it? Well, it's a universe. The Gravity Rush 2 box art also says that the Destructive Force “threatens the fabric of the universe itself”, even though he was only a confirmed threat to the main setting of the World Pillar in the game's story. However, even beyond that, the sun is visible from Hekseville or Jirga Para Lhao, which substantiates that the world of Gravity Rush does indeed still contain cosmic elements.

Black Holes?

Fittingly, a big chunk of the discussion on this gravity based matchup is on the topic of black holes, because black holes are really, really powerful. So how did we ultimately stand on them? Well let's start with Gravity Rush first.

Kat has an ability in Gravity Rush 1 and 2 called the Micro Black Hole, which can be upgraded into the Ultra Black Hole in Gravity Rush 2. What it does is create a black hole that pulls in and consumes objects and enemies, as the name implies. They are directly called black holes and have no major contradictions, but they also have more to substantiate themselves than that. There is a PlayStation achievement for defeating 10 enemies at once with the Micro Black Hole called “Event Horizon”, which is a specific term that refers to the boundary of a black hole where light cannot escape. Of course, PlayStation achievement names are not everything, but it does show how the developers thought about the move, being that it is just supposed to be a black hole. Nearly all of Kat's abilities are performed through the manipulation of gravity and not through some alternative magic or other source, which very likely means that Kat is creating these black holes through some way of manipulating gravity. What else can really result from that? The intention here is pretty obvious. While the Gravity Rush 1 tutorial for the Micro Black Hole does say that it “sucks the Nevi out of existence”, this is honestly likely just a flowery and PG-13 way of saying that it kills them and completely obliterates them. Particularly strong enemies and Nevi can survive the black hole attack, the move is completely damage and HP based. Such language is not uncommon at all in the Gravity Rush setting, which often uses poetic phrasing.

Probably most importantly however, is the end of Gravity Rush 2 where Kat must create a singularity to seal away the Destructive Force. A singularity refers to the infinitely dense mass inside of a black hole that causes the whole thing to happen, it is a very specific term that undoubtedly substantiates a completely legitimate black hole. Now to be completely fair, it is possible that Xii (Raven's guardian) helped Kat in performing this feat. However, this does still prove that gravity shifters (Kat specifically) are capable of creating legitimate black holes and singularities with enough power/effort, and if we halved the energy needed to create a black hole that could seal the Destructive Force given that Dusty has been shown to be at least equal to Xii in the past (334/2=167 Yottatons), the result is strikingly comparable to the 78 Yottaton black holes that Kat can create in gameplay. All that said, we found that using the black holes in Gravity Rush to gauge Kat’s power to be perfectly reasonable.

Shiki also has a black hole feat too though, so what about that? In Chapter 98 of Edens Zero during Shiki's battle with Drakken Joe, Shiki creates a center of gravity that begins to pull in the area around him - floor, ceiling and all. Because of this, he was commented to be “like a black hole”, however it is never actually stated that he actually created a black hole, only that the act of him pulling everything towards him was akin to one. There is nothing else to substantiate the argument beyond this, it is far less supported and clear than Kat's black holes. However, it is possible that the language being used was meant to allude to the idea that Shiki was indeed creating a black hole. Since we focused so heavily on black holes for Kat's feats, we did not want to appear unfair so we included a theoretical calculation of it for Shiki, as it does not surpass his already established scaling. Still, we do not believe that the two arguments carry the same level of validity.

The Monster King

Yes, I know I used this pic last time I wrote a verdict. What else am I going to use???

I don't believe I have been quite as invested in a blog like this since Freddy vs Pennywise. I've read Edens Zero twice over for this matchup, and I spent a long time grinding in Gravity Rush 1 and 2 to get the things I needed to get, as Gravity Rush isn't super well documented for power scaling. I really like this matchup, the animation potential for this fight would actually be very bonkers. I mean, you can just look at the main connection for this fight to know that, but they are also really cool characters and have a lot of things that can bounce off well with each other. If you read my past verdicts, you know this is the part where I list off their connections, so heeeere we go!

Both Shiki and Kat are gravity manipulators with many of the same abilities. They both famously change their own gravity so they can achieve a form of “flight” by falling in any given direction, they both use it the exact same way to “slide” by slightly adjusting their own gravity, they both even have similar abilities in regard to super specific things like creating wormholes to fight. They both started their journey not knowing really anything about their past and would work to learn more about it throughout their adventure in unfamiliar and alien land to them, attaining friends along the way while battling criminals and corrupt authority figures. Eventually, they would learn that, in another life, they were known as a king/queen who tried to save an untold amount of lives from a devastating catastrophe and would end up nearly dying and losing their previous way of life as a result, although in reversed order (While Kat became the Queen of Eto before trying to save everyone from under Eto from the black ocean and being thrown off as a result, Shiki from an alternate timeline tried to save the people of Nero 66 and was sent into the future while nearly dying, then turned into Ziggy and became the Demon King.) Despite this, they would unknowingly take on royal titles anyway (Kat as the Gravity Queen and Shiki as the, Demon King.) Both of their main obstacles in their stories is an impending existential threat to all life (for Shiki, Mother dying threatened to end life in the whole cosmos, and for Kat, the “black ocean” that threatened to inevitably consume the World Pillar over time). Interestingly, fate seems to have a polar opposite role in both series. In Edens Zero, events are often overturned by the main cast by reversing time, and there exists a large branch of possible timelines that come as a result of these alterations and different possible choices made, Shiki's own fate is completely undeterminable even by means that are supposed to produce an accurate telling of fate. In Gravity Rush however, fate plays as a definitive, inevitable force that is final. Kat often uses a fortune teller to help her in her quests who always gives accurate predictions, and a big theme in Gravity Rush is the conclusive passage of time that must continue no matter what bad may have happened, or the inevitable bad that will definitely happen. You can't stop or reverse time to get the world you want, and the black ocean represents a total inevitability of death - I mean, look at these lyrics. And finally, though not quite as deep a connection, both of their main companions is kind of a “cat”. Kat's cat Dusty is her Guardian and follows her everywhere, that's where she gets her powers from. Meanwhile, Shiki's longest and main companion is Rebecca, who is a cat leaper, meaning she can reverse time, and has done so to save Shiki in the past - her main weapon also involves using Happy, a cat, to turn into her guns.

And that's about everything I can think of, though this matchup is sort of niche, so if anyone can think of more connections or interesting points between them then let me know. Obviously I would really like to see this fight, it would make an awesome 3D animation, but would they do it? Well the problem is that neither series are really exceptionally popular, though they aren't completely unknown. If you are big into video games, especially PlayStation, then you would probably know about Gravity Rush, and if you are big into shonen anime then you would probably know about Edens Zero. They are far from household names, but I do think that the concept is immediately understandable and interesting enough that it could draw in a decent amount of views anyway, though I wouldn't bet on it happening unless it had some more community support. Maybe people should get working on that…

Now to finally talk about who wins. Shiki and Kat both share a lot of the same abilities and feats as each other, namely, they've both dodged bullets, missiles, electricity, and the works. On a higher end, they also both share potential relativistic feats. Kat has escaped the pull of a black hole before - although she did not enter the event horizon, she was fairly close to it, so I would still consider it somewhat relativistic. In addition to this, her gravity is powerful enough to create black holes, which means it should be able to move things and people around at relativistic speeds as a black hole does. On the other hand, Shiki once moved through Muller's gravitational field, something that Muller considered impossible because it meant that he would be “ignoring the theory of relativity”, which could suggest that he was moving faster than relativity would allow his mass to move, though it's not fully elaborated on. I think that being fair to both they should be about around even, or close to even in speed.

As far as fighting abilities goes, it's also hard to exactly quantify who is better. Shiki had better formal training under Ziggy and Xenolith to use his powers, and turned out to be fairly adept at it. Kat meanwhile was mostly self taught as she learned her powers, though she did technically learn from The Other how to use her powers a little more effectively. Do those stone tablets that give Kat trials and tutorials on using her powers count as training? I don't know. Either way though, she's not exactly lacking in direct combat. She knows three different fighting styles utilizing the level of gravity she applies to herself, and once defeated a hundred martial artists in one sitting without using her powers. In this category, I'd say that they are about even as well.

Shiki should have the advantage when it comes to range. Although not exclusively, Kat usually relies on objects around her to use as projectiles, while Shiki can just create gravity bullets. He has also shown to be exceptional at dealing with projectiles, the guy caught a sniper bullet in mid air, and if you compare the scale of his gravity to that of people like Ziggy or Xenolith then he has far greater range to use, so he can win a distance game if it were to come down to it. In addition, the Anti-Gravity move is not manual like Gravity Stasis is, though Kat has a potential answer here regardless with the Gale Zone, it can't be used as reliably as Shiki's own options due to the need for SP.

Have that said, Kat takes the edge in mobility, which should be fairly important due to the nature of this fights dynamic. Both of them can fight aerially, but Kat does so far more often than Shiki does and has more options in the air than him, as well as can apply a lot of upgrades towards her aerial attacks like Gravity Kick to where her aerial fighting style is simply far more advanced than Shiki's, not to mention the Lunar Style which only helps her in this area further. Both of them have a “Gravity Slide”, but Kat uses it far more often and has upgraded it to be more suitable for combat than Shiki has ever shown with it. Both of them also use wormholes for combat, but just like with Gravity Slide, Kat's are more advanced, upgraded and attuned for fighting. Theoretically, Shiki has a pretty good counter for Kat's mobility, being the Gravity Center. He'd be able to pull her down with this move if he so wanted, which would definitely disrupt her mobility - however, it's not a perfect counter. Kat has three different methods of teleportation if she needed to immediately escape Shiki immobilizing her, and since she can manipulate her own gravity, she could always just brute force against it. It is unlikely that Shiki would spam this technique if it fails to work the first time. While Kat is usually dependent on stamina to keep gravity shifting, she can use a talisman to remove that weakness entirely, and even without it, with her highest upgrades she would be able to recover her gravity shifting if she were to run out in like a second, making this a very difficult weak point for Shiki to exploit.

When it comes to equipment it's not even close. Shiki does not have anything to match the absurd amounts of talismans that Kat can choose to equip to her, giving her a variety of additional effects and benefits, thus strategy, that Shiki does not have the resources to really match in any way. This not only makes Kat more versatile, but also more adaptable as she can alter herself in any way she sees fit.

A big, yet probably unexpected advantage for Kat to have in this fight is her healing. With talismans she can heal herself at the cost of SP, and in Panther Mode she can continuously recover from damage with no expense at all. Shiki does not have anything like that, and if based on the Elektricitie fight, Kat can remain in Panther Mode for as long as she needs to, which can perfectly counter Shiki's Overdrive. On top of that, Kat's greatest moves are superior. Like, there's nothing Shiki can really do against her Ultra Black Holes.

Kat seems to have most of the advantages here, but of course, all of this would mean nothing if she couldn't also match Shiki in raw power, and given that destroying planets is not an uncommon thing in Edens Zero, that seems like a tall order. However, she actually matches up perfectly fine against Shiki, and even surpasses him.

The best feat that Shiki can scale to comes from Xenolith lifting the oceans from a planet, which comes out to over 16 Yottatons. That is impressive, more than enough energy to destroy the Earth two hundred and a half times over. However, black holes are really, really strong. As explained in the previous sections, her black holes are a perfectly reasonable measure to use to gauge her level of power, and even the black holes that she creates in gameplay can reach nearly 80 Yottatons of TNT, nearly five times more powerful than Shiki's best level of scaling. That is about the best it can get for Shiki, because there are many things you can take into consideration to make the gap even wider. The black hole that she created to seal away the Destructive Force would be worth 334 Yottatons of TNT - even if you divided that in half due to Xii, that is still over ten times greater than Xenolith's feat.

This level of power for Kat shouldn't really be that big of a surprise. There are numerous statements in the games of characters which Kat scales to being capable of making or breaking whole worlds, making this level of scaling actually very consistent. In fact, these statements imply a much higher level of power for Kat - as outlined in the Cosmology section, I'm the contexts they are referring to, “worlds” refer to the entire dimensional structure that they are residing in. When Gade says that he created the world, he is referring the universe that they are in, which is substantiated several times within the context of the games. This would imply a far greater level of power that would turn Kat's strength edge from a notable one into a wholly insurmountable one.

So, Kat has a pretty clear advantage in this fight. She's stronger, tougher, more mobile and has better abilities and equipment, and can at least match Shiki in most other areas. Usually that would be all I need to conclude my verdict, but there are some asterisks to this discussion I keep hearing that I would like to clear up, so let me go ahead and do that.

Can Shiki crush her organs?

So at one point Ziggy was applying enough gravitational force onto Rebecca that it threatened to crush her organs after enough time. To be clear, Shiki is not Ziggy - well, I mean, he is, sort of. Ziggy is Shiki from the future from the past who is now also a robot. It's complicated. Point is, it's not really in character for Shiki to do this, but hey it's a battle to the death, so hypothetically maybe he will attempt this. That's cool. Anyway, here is Kat having enough gravitational force applied directly onto her to shatter a pillar. Kat is capable of pretty easily changing her own personal gravity and one of her main fighting styles even involves fighting while under intense gravity. There is zero reason for this to work, gravity is kinda her thing. And like, technically, she surviving becoming a singularity for a full year - when something is a singularity, that means that their gravitational force is, uh, infinite. So I think she'll be fine.

Can Shiki remove Dusty from the battle?

Very unlikely. Although Yunica did this, that was only because she knew how Kat's powers worked beforehand and planned for it. When Kat is fighting or flying, Dusty is able to dematerialize himself and remove himself from harm. Dusty is also capable of fighting by himself, and if Shiki were to teleport Dusty away somehow, he can always just teleport back to Kat. Shiki would not likely learn that Dusty is responsible for Kat's powers either. He is able to see into your past memories, and as thematic as doing that with Kat would be, it's also incredibly circumstantial as he neither has control of when this happens or what memories he views as a result. Even if Shiki did succeed at doing this somehow, Kat is actually very experienced at having to fight and deal with things without Dusty supplying her her gravity shifting powers, and is far more well versed in these situations than Shiki has ever been. Nothing has suggested that removing Dusty weakens Kat's physical strength either, and her instances of fighting without Dusty also substantiate this. If Shiki were to ever do that, then this would happen.

Speaking of which, here is an interesting theoretical. Technically, because Shiki has survived an anti-matter explosion, if he were tough enough to withstand Kat's black holes then he might be able to survive the accretion disc of a black hole from converting his mass into energy. Have that said, could the black hole affect his ether gear? It is entirely possible that the properties of a black hole could interact with machines susceptible to EMPs in a similar way, if they are not immediately destroyed. If that were to be tampered with, Shiki has next to zero experience fighting without his ether gear, as opposed to Kat, who does have experience fighting while her gravity shifting does not function properly or is unusable.

Is Shiki a fate/concept destroyer???

Essentially, neither Nero nor Feather were able to preconceive Shiki or his actions through their precognitive abilities. In addition to this, Xenolith has said that true gravity “transcends even concepts”, but in context he was being poetic and referring to how Shiki was attracting his friends towards him in his journey. Even if this were to mean that he was somehow manipulating fate to make things go the way they have in some manner, it's never provably materialized itself in any meaningfully helpful way in his battles. He has lost in battle before, and has even died in previous timelines, so there is no reason he can't lose here the same as anyone else would. And like, even if you wanted to push this kind of stuff that badly, we can play that game too.

There are several allusions in Gravity Rush to Kat having some sort of preordained fate that belies her journey and battles. However, funnier than that is what we found when discussing Cyanae, one of the creators who Kat scales to. Cyanae's role as a creator is that she forms everything from within her dreams - everything and everyone in the world is simply a figment of her imagination. Is that not a r>f dynamic, therefore justifying outerversal tiering? I'm not even being cheeky about this, what else would you describe this as? Point is, Edens Zero is not going to out-psuedo/abstract Gravity Rush.

Is that Fairy Tail/Rave Master crossover canon?

No and Kat is in PSASBR

Overall

All in all, Kat's got this. In order for Shiki to win, you'd need to be ultra conservative on Kat's physical abilities and feats while ignoring her cosmic scaling as well, then apply unfair standards in regard to their speed to give Shiki an edge. Kat should comfortably beat him out in power, if not by monstrous levels, and possesses greater tertiary advantages across the board. Shiki has a few things going for him but it's not really going to be enough, a lot of this really comes down to the fact that we are putting an anime character who sparsely uses the same technique twice against a video game character with stacks and stacks of upgrades and equipment and abilities and status effects, which makes it very difficult for Shiki's abilities to overcome hers, even though they possess a lot of similar powers and usages of gravity.

That is not to say that Shiki doesn't have anything going for him. As I mentioned before, his Gravity Center could be useful against someone so reliant on their mobility, and he has superior range. Unfortunately that is unlikely to manifest in a victory for him, as Kat has ways around the Gravity Center, and Shiki is generally more likely to prefer fighting up close as opposed to fighting someone from a distance, which fits his fighting style much more. Even if Shiki did attempt to keep her at a distance, she has plenty of ways of closing said distance, be it via her own mobility or just by teleporting/wormholing directly to him. This all also relies on a conservative estimation for Kat's power, if we took into account her scaling to people that can create and destroy her universe or her being able to survive turning into a singularity, there is really nothing that Shiki can even do.

Shiki is going to put up a good fight, but in the end, Kat is going to turn him into Shikipaghetti. Spagheshiki. Spashikigetti. Something like that, black holes, I tried. I'm just layben it down, Kat got the ceewin.

Crowology

It's a crow in the… wait where is this? This has gotta be some sort of extra dimensional space or something. Anyways I was asked to give my opinion on this wonderful blog I am embed in.

The root of the battle comes down to the fact that in most circumstances Kat entirely dominates the battle. Kat is significantly stronger and significantly more durable than Shiki even if you bring in Shiki’s potential feat. So right off the bat Kat is already at a significant advantage. Mind you, this is without considering the viable cosmic scaling which would make this issue even worse as her planetary scaling leap massively to universal in scope due to her scaling to Elektricitie and The Destructive Force both of which are stated to be able to destroy the whole “world” of the Gravity Rush Verse making even more above Shiki. Speed is almost as bad but not too crazy, Kat’s highest calculations of speed out rank Shiki’s but with his feat of “bypassing” the law of relativity you can get it to lightspeed however the context makes it extremely weird to argue it as a speed feat because it was in context to him bypassing another person’s power using his own power not through sheer speed and even if we take that at face value, Kat escaped the pull of a black hole and she also scales to Raven who was able to escape the destruction of time-space which would be on the same level and higher than Shiki’s feat respectively. In addition to this, Kat’s arsenal and toolkit is just significantly more diverse and useful. Kat can fight at basically any range with items that make her even tougher to deal with, providing things like regeneration and essentially unlimited gravity meter (which is already insane because her meter literally recovers in an instant by the end of GR2) make fighting her even worse. Shiki’s arsenal and toolkit unfortunately just don’t match up. His moveset is limited to strong basic attacks that are either strong punches, big blasts or some combination of the two with some defensive abilities along that. And the most important part - Kat is sitting on an instant win con at basically any point of the fight with her Ultra Black Hole so even if hypothetical Shiki could push her back, she would probably just end him with that. Kat just has too many different advantages in this fight for me to reasonably say Shiki has much of a chance. The only viable win-con I see for him is something completely out of character for him and something Kat should just be able to resist because she can ALSO control gravity and stop other people with said powers from controlling. I honestly wasn’t expecting Kat to be so strong, to be honest, throughout the course of the blog pretty much all of us were shocked with how much different Gravity Rush actually scales in comparison to how it is represented. I thought she was downplayed for sure but I wasn’t expecting Large Planet to Universe to even via the  lore of the series even having a solid outerversal argument via R>F. Meanwhile I believed the same Shiki, his scaling just improved significantly less than Kat’s. But even if it's not really the closest battle, as like an animation or crossover I could see this going extremely hard just due to the animation potential, their personalities and the similarities between them. At any rate, Shiki couldn’t handle the Gravity Rush, Kat is the winner.

Idk how to end this, go listen to Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Part 2. Do it. If you don’t I will find you.

StrangeFate

I am the Mahiru fan, and that makes me happy

Well… I’m here without a witty introduction or anything.  Look, I’m not the most well versed in Edens Zero, though I’ve been enjoying a lot of the anime so far, but I am a massive fan of Gravity Rush and especially Kat.  She’s a great protagonist with a unique tool kit perfectly suited for a versus show, and for a while Ochaco was my preference for her since I was actually familiar with her.  However, after the research for this blog and actually finding myself really like the cast of Edens Zero, I can definitely say that I love this match a ton now.  So much potential for a unique animation, great connections between the two, and to top it all off, a great debate.  Speaking of said debate, let’s jump into my thoughts on who wins this.

Starting things off with what matters most in a match, we have stats, and much to my surprise, these two actually match up much better than I thought.  Despite having believed Kat to be around city level in the past, she’s surprisingly much stronger thanks to creating black holes, which can reach a maximum ap of 334 Yottatons of TNT as seen when she had to seal the Destructive Force.  Shiki isn’t all that far behind though as he can compare to Xenolith’s Gravity Center having a max power of around 16 Yottatons of TNT, making for a 20 times difference in power.  Definitely a solid gap in power, but not a massive one in the grand scheme of things.  Speed is a bit more interesting though as with just numbers alone, Kat dodging lightning should blitz Shiki’s best feat of dodging missiles.  This is far from their limits though as Kat can escape the pull of a black hole which would require at least relativistic speeds, but Shiki takes it a step further by moving so fast he was stated to be “ignoring the laws of relativity” which likely puts him at least at the speed of light, if not faster.  Bare minimum as a result, they should be near equal in speed, or Shiki is just straight up faster than Kat.

Moving on to abilities, I’ll be honest and say Shiki does kinda suffer here a good amount.  He’s no slouch in combat and has plenty of ways to match Kat such as wormholes for wormhole kick, pseudo-black hole for ultra black hole, and super forms of course.  The problem is that Kat’s style of combat fundamentally focuses on mobility and making her harder to hit, which Shiki can’t really counter.  You could make the argument that Gravity Wave could counter this by pulling Kat in, but Kat has a few answers for this such as teleporting away with wormhole kick, powering through with Jupiter style, or just altering the gravity.  Speaking of that, Shiki’s arsenal having such a heavy emphasis on gravity could potentially be used to nullify his attacks as Kat could just alter his own gravity.  She can also heal any damage he deals thanks to both her talismans and Panther Mode, while any damage Shiki takes is permanent.  That said, I would like to address the two yellow elephants in the room, those being “why can’t Shiki bypass her durability by crushing her organs?” and “can’t Shiki just teleport Dusty through a wormhole to cut off Kat’s source of power?”.  To address organ crushing, Shiki himself never did that, it was his future self Ziggy who did that, as Shiki himself would realistically never try that.  Even then, the context of the attack is that it’s actually just done by increasing the pressure of gravity on the opponent's body, which really has no way of working on Kat.  She can always just reverse her own gravity or even likely just tank the attack given her ability to handle similar heavy pressure while in Jupiter Style.  As for teleporting Dusty away, this would work if there weren’t way too many issues.  First is that Shiki would never think to do this as he has no way of knowing that Dusty is the source of Kat’s power, second is that Dusty could always teleport over to Kat to nullify this, and third is that this gets shut down the instant Kat and Dusty fuse into Panther Mode.  Really Shiki’s only edge here is superior ranged combat due to having more projectiles and a more reliable reflector.  Otherwise, Kat dominates in the arsenal department.

Finally comes the more minor factors, and for most of these, they tend to go even.  Both are relatively similar in intelligence, mobility, and experience.  Shiki does have the edge of superior combat training, but Kat has solid training with her abilities and has shown she can keep up with trained fighters, so training is relatively pointless.  Only other thing worth bringing up is weaknesses, which neither can exploit.  I already brought up why Shiki can’t separate Kat and Dusty, and her gravity meter is fixed by talismans that basically grant her infinite usage.  Shiki’s only notable weakness is that EMPs shut off his ether gear, basically rendering him powerless… but Kat also doesn’t carry EMPs on her (hell the people in the world of Gravity Rush barely even know what lightning is) so that’s not an issue to worry about.

Ultimately I do still stand by my argument that this is a close fight, and the entire reason for that is Shiki generally being faster and outranging Kat, which makes landing a hit on him a nightmare.  That said, he also can’t do much to finish Kat off, so all I can see him doing is stalling for a long while.  Eventually Kat’s either just gonna land the one hit she needs to take the win because she goes for a physical attack… or she just turns into a black hole and yanks Shiki in.  It would still be a win for her after all since Gravity Rush 2 heavily implies she’ll come back after about a year, while Shiki just won’t come back.  His speed and range make him a tricky fighter, but by the time he realizes the gravity of the situation he’s in, he’ll have zero chance of making a comeback.  Therefore the winner is Kat

Wubba Lubba Dub Dub! (Recent Rick and Morty fanboy)

Hey hey. This is my second time actually writing a verdict, but I’ve been excited to work on a blog for a while. When I heard that a series that I had enjoyed (Or more so megaverse) was having a blog, I wanted to step in and help. While I wasn’t as much of a help as I would’ve wanted to, I’m glad to have some participation in the blog.

While Edens Zero isn’t one of my favorite verses, it was still a series alongside Fairy Tail and Rave Master that I had enjoyed a lot. I mainly liked them for their art styles and characters, as their art style appealed to me a lot (I was never interested in the fan service lmaooo, it was almost a turn off for me). Shiki was a character I had liked a lot when first reading it, being better than the other 2 protagonists in my opinion. His attitude always reminded me of Luffy who I also really like as a shonen protagonist.

I was never aware of Gravity Rush, despite it seemingly being a decently popular game. For the blog, I had played it and honestly enjoyed it. I think the mechanics are unique and it was fun to maneuver around as Kat. I’m a huge fan of visual novels like Danganronpa and DDLC, so I really liked the visual novel text aesthetic (Better than Cursed Clash’s). Admittedly while I haven’t fully beaten the game, I have watched playthroughs and thought it looked really fun.

So who would win this fight? The fight is definitely interesting, so we’ll have to go into a few things. We should start discussing stats and make our way down to abilities.

Stats

Shiki is definitely powerful in his own right, his lowest cosmic feat is being able to survive 20,000 anti matter bombs exploding which was calculated at 50-180 Zettatons of TNT. He also has scaling to Zenolith whose Gravity Center was able to move the oceans around a planet, which was also calculated at 16.4 Yottatons of TNT. Very impressive, but unfortunately Kat has Shiki beat, being able to generate black holes that can vary from 79 Yottatons of TNT to 334 Yottatons of TNT

Shiki has his own Black hole feat. However, now this likely isn’t a literal black hole. While there is a literal statement comparing it to such, this can likely be equated to the fact that like black holes, Shiki’s attack can actually pull in objects, and thus the comparison to the black hole is fair. The validity of this feat wouldn’t matter however, as it was calculated at 7.8 Yottatons of TNT, which is lower than his actual highest feat.

This isn’t considering Kat’s higher arguments. I mentioned her planetary feats to compare them to Shiki’s, but she has universal arguments too. As established in the before we begin segment, worlds should very well be the same as universes, which means that her scaling to characters like Elektricite, the Destructive Force, Gade and Cyanae, who all have world destruction/creation, are universal scale chains. The Destructive Force being stated to be able to “threaten the fabric of the universe” makes this pretty consistent.

Then there’s speed which unfortunately I believe Kat has Shiki easily beat. Shiki can react to missiles and bullets, and has a statement of ignoring the theory of relativity. The theory of relativity is weird, because in context it refers to how Shiki was able to bypass muller’s gravitational field despite it being able to compress a planet, and how Shiki was able to move normally when “time” should’ve been different for him. I don’t personally think that this is a speed feat, but you can probably make arguments for it. Even if we used it, Kat has a feat of escaping a black hole which would actually require lightspeed to do. They’re quite relative if you were being generous to Shiki.

Using what I believe of Shiki, which is Mach 10 due to missile reaction, Kat would be 87,404.94 times faster. Honestly I could stop the verdict here. Kat is 4-20 times stronger, if not far, far, FAR higher with universal arguments (172,256,100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times stronger to be exact :)), and is 87,404.94 times faster. However, I wanna be at least fair to Shiki and go over the wincons he has.

Other factors

Shiki and Kat have their own fair share of abilities. Starting with Shiki’s important ones, he has the ability to crush your organs with pure pushing force, BFR and the “black hole”. While these are impressive abilities, they likely wouldn’t be useful. While 2 of them are likely things he would never do, Kat is good even if he used them. Crushing the organs wouldn’t do well considering that Kat can literally overpower it with her own abilities and survive much worse aka being turned into a singularity for a year.

If Kat got warped away, she could easily come back with a wormhole kick, a form of teleportation. Admittedly though, you can make the argument that if Shiki teleported Kat away far enough and made it vague to where he was, it could be plausible that she wouldn’t know where to teleport. Idk if I would use that as an argument but the argument can be made. Additionally, If Shiki warped just dusty away, Kat wouldn’t be affected in any way. She would still be 4-172 Decillion times stronger and far faster. Stats wouldn’t change, Shiki would just be the only one with gravity. Dusty is very much likely to be able to teleport to Kat though, so it likely wouldn’t matter.

Black hole is simple: Kat has survived them and has stronger ones.

Shiki’s best way to win is simply to outlast Kat. Let her drain herself out since Shiki has the better range. While this would be the best, not only can Kat actually teleport to Shiki in this instance… but Shiki would never do this. Shiki is a fighter who likes to fight up and close, there’s no reason why he would try to stall, especially considering that he wouldn’t likely know any of Kat’s weaknesses.

Kat has a good bit herself. She has defensive things like healing, which could be useful in the possibility that Shiki would hurt her, unlikely but notable to mention nonetheless. Kat’s black hole wincon is actually very useful here. It’s far stronger than what Shiki can handle, and Shiki himself hasn’t experienced a black hole before. Kat just hitting him with her weakest one would likely kill Shiki, if not have him barely survive.

Kat could also use her for some reason very useful teleportation, tripping up Shiki and making her attacks easier to hit while negating some of Shiki’s wincons thanks to her teleportation… Why is it so useful?

Conclusion

Before I give a genuine conclusion, I wanna go over the fight with all of the benefits I mentioned for Shiki I didn’t use, and lowballing Kat to a reasonable amount.

Kat would be 4 times stronger than Shiki, however they would be even in speed (Kat COULD still be faster, but by a tiny amount), so Shiki could at least keep up. Assuming Shiki doesn’t instantly warp Kat, Kat would do a lot of damage on the first hit, and since they’re likely equal in skill, Shiki COULD get hits in, but would likely get quickly overpowered.

The second Shiki gets a warp in, assuming that it would be difficult for Kat to teleport back, Shiki could win. However even as a lowball, Kat’s AP seems to be too much, and could easily overpower Shiki and make Shiki get weaker and slower throughout the fight due to pure strength.

Going on the actual fight, Kat has too much. Her AP advantage is in the decillions, and her speed advantage is 87 thousand. That would easily end the fight there, and even if it somehow didn’t. Shiki has no wincons. It’s either stuff he would never do or stuff Kat has already dealt with in the past (or that blasted teleportation…).

Uh, I don’t have a pun. I tried to use chatGPT but it was NOT cooking. “Kat really brought Shiki down to earth, proving that what goes up, must come down—especially when you're caught in her gravitational pull!” We’ll just use that sure! Thanks chatGPT! The winner is Kat

    1. I don't really agree with Shiki scaling to the chronophage's big bang, and even beyond that we mentioned higher arguments for Kat in the blog that would still make her stronger (the singularity feat and Cyanae's scaling)
