Moro VS Tirek

“The Devil always takes back his gifts”

Moro, the galactic consumer of worlds from Dragon Ball.

Tirek, the magic devouring Lord from Tartarus from My Little Pony.

Weak and feeble as they may appear at first, these two scheming wizards hold boundless potential with their ability to just steal the other guy's power level for themselves. Although rather cheap, it makes them incredibly deadly, and no imprisonment can hold them for long. But when they are put against each other, who will be sucked dry in a DEATH BATTLE? That came off very wrong.

Before We Begin

Moro is only in the Dragon Ball Super manga, so I kind of have to only use that for this analysis. No feats, character or cosmology attributes outside of the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z manga, as well as the Dragon Ball Super manga are allowed. However, the anime versions of Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super may be used to clarify certain feats or attributes that already exist in the manga. The Dragon Ball Super Broly movie is also included, as it takes place within both the Super anime and manga continuity.

Tirek is a little more interesting in that the version people often know about him is from the G4 My Little Pony cartoon, but he is actually a revised version from a very similar character from the first generation of My Little Pony's timeline. Although spelled slightly differently from earlier material as Tirac, they are pretty obviously meant to represent the same character in concept, and in this version of the characters most modern appearance, the My Little Pony manga, his name is spelled as Tirek, suggesting they are supposed to be the same character conceptually. However, they do have many stark differences. I will be adding in information from this rendition of the character on an encyclopedic basis, as well as I think that it would be more interesting to also analyze the first generation of My Little Pony, but the main analysis will focus on G4 and to an extent G5, as it is a canon continuation of G4. I will be addressing this fight both with and without this composite, and how it may affect the battle in the verdict.

Background

Moro

Ten million years ago, the galaxy lived in terror of a mighty wizard who would travel from planet to planet, wiping out all life on each one and absorbing their life energy for himself. The Galactic Patrol, who are meant to protect the galaxy had to enlist the help of the Grand Supreme Kai himself, the greatest God of Universe 7 to defeat this menace. However, this planet eater’s magic was too great even still, so the Grand Supreme Kai had to sacrifice his own Godly powers in order to just seal away his magic. The wizard was to be sentenced to death, but even in his weakened state, he was too powerful for anyone to kill, so there he remained. Ten million years later, the universe would see the return of Moro.

A lot has changed since Moro last terrorized the galaxy, namely, there is now a super powerful Super Saiyan God and his meddling friends running around, who Moro would inevitably have to cross paths with in his depowered state. When they did meet each other on New Namek, Moro actually managed to defeat them, thanks to his broken ability to steal their energy, shutting out their Super Saiyan transformations. Though they'd barely survive the ordeal, Moro went on to reinstate his reign with his own group of lackeys as he munched on whatever planet came his way, and what do you know, planet Earth just so happened to be in his way next! What are the chances?

Moro cared very little for the companions he made, and was revolted by the ideas of peace and justice espoused by the Galactic Patrol. To him, it was his birth right to take what he wanted, he shouldn't need to rely on anything besides his own avarice to be strong. This lifestyle of taking was so profound that he ended up taking the abilities of his underling, whose ability was taking others abilities, to become a more perfected version of himself, if you can call it that. In his rematch with Goku, Moro would quickly find that the one thing he couldn't take for himself was pure hard work, but of course he tried it anyway. In doing so, the result was that he couldn't control the power he had stolen for himself, and turned himself into a hideous, dying monstrosity, the real reflection of who he really was inside. Still, even after he died and was unceremoniously forgotten about by the fandom, how many people can you say have defeated Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, and Androids 17 and 18 all in one sitting? He may have been an egotistical coward inside, but Moro has undoubtedly left a legacy of untold amounts of bloodshed and terror in his wake.

Tirek

Now, you might be thinking that a red goat demon with a silver tongue who deceives people into giving them what they want, only to end up benefiting himself and resides within a place he was banished to called Tartarus may be a little on the nose for a franchise called My Little Pony, but let's take a step back first and examine this characters history in full.

In 1984, My Little Pony, Rescue from Midnight Castle was released, giving us the first animated story for the My Little Pony franchise. The ponies of Ponyland were under attack by a group of vicious monsters who abducted them for their leader, forcing them to flee to the sanctuary of Megan, a human girl. This evil force was led by Tirek, the ruler of Midnight Castle, who stole the ponies to turn them into monsters for his chariot, which he would use along with the Rainbow of Darkness to create an eternal night. Tirek was a ruthless wizard of darkness, willing to do anything to get his way, even if it meant decapitating Spike the dragon, Jesus Christ. Megan would learn that the only way to defeat Tirek and his Rainbow of Darkness was with the Rainbow of Light, which she would acquire. Along with this powerful force, and her newfound friends, she destroyed Tirek, changing back all the animals he transformed and saving the world.

Fast forward a couple of decades and My Little Pony has become a lot more anime. Tirek, the son of royals, has involved himself in shady magic training from a weird wizard called Sendak the Elder, who had captured a unicorn. When Tirek had attempted to steal the magic from the unicorn for himself, he failed, destroying Sendak's abode and alerting the royals of the misdeed. It was then that Tirek swore to take Equestria for himself one day and become the ultimate force… Which was then thwarted by his own brother, Scorpan, who betrayed him upon befriending the ponies. Tirek was then cast into Tartarus, a prison to keep him sealed away. Of course, it was only a matter of time before he escaped.

Seeking revenge and power, Tirek set out to steal the magic of every pony in Equestria. He even managed to trick and un-reform the reformed Discord in order to accomplish this. Celestia, Luna and Cadence had to hide away their magic within Twilight to prevent Tirek from taking it, and Tirek… Basically accomplished his goal. He stole the energy of every Earth pony, pegasus, unicorn, and even Discord's and the alicorn magic that Twilight was supposed to keep hidden, all culminating in him becoming one of the strongest threats Equestria has ever known. But despite all the power he took, the one thing Tirek wasn't able to take was Twilight's bonds with her friends, and the power of their friendship allowed them to defeat Tirek and send him back to Tartarus.

This would have been the end, if it weren't for Discord being Discord. In an attempt to raise Twilight's confidence for her coronation to succeed Celestia and Luna, he freed Tirek along with Chrysalis and Cozy Glow (as well as Sombra, but he died) under the guise of Grogar. Tirek was now forced to learn how to work together with other villains to accomplish his goals, which while obnoxious at first, ended up not only working but working so well that they managed to trick Discord himself and steal his power with Grogar's Bell, before then giving Equestria the biggest attack it has ever seen and sewing distrust among its citizens. Unfortunately for Tirek and his new frenemies, this still wasn't enough to beat the ponies, and he was sealed away in stone with them for eternity. Immortalized in his weak body, as he always has been - but maybe one day the dreadful centaur will return and wreck havoc in the My Little Pony world again. He already came back after one reboot before, after all.

Equipment

Moro

A Really Old Cloak

Yeah that's kind of all he has.

Tirek

Rainbow of Darkness

Exclusive to the G1 continuity, Tirek possesses the Rainbow of Darkness, a twisted force that is the source of his power. With it, he can overwhelm other energy sources as well as forcibly transform other living creatures into monsters that do his bidding. However, as seen with Scorpan, they can eventually grow to be able to defy Tirek. He can also use the Rainbow of Darkness to create a planet spanning storm, creating an eternal night to shroud the world in darkness.

Grogar's Bewitching Bell

A powerful magical artifact that Tirek found with the help of Cozy Glow and Chrysalis, all three of them are technically in possession of the bell in Season 9 of Friendship Is Magic. This bell can instantly drain the energy out of someone as well as transfer it to the user, being able to work on powerful characters such as Discord, Celestia and Luna. It is also apparently capable of creating portals between locations for the user to travel through.

Abilities

Moro

Energy Absorption

Moro's primary ability is to steal the life force and energy of living things, adding them to himself and amplifying his power. His energy absorption is incredibly powerful, being able to absorb all of the energy of a planet and its living inhabitants in seconds, wiping out all life on said planet. In addition, when he steals the life force of others, he is actually absorbing their souls as well, trapping their conscious, tormented souls inside of his own pool of ki, which is terrifying. By doing this, Moro is able to extend his own lifespan, to which he has lived for millions of years.

While absorbing the life energy of the planet he is on, he also absorbs the energy of all plants and animals on it in the process. In doing so, he was able to absorb enough energy from Vegeta to prevent him entering his Super Saiyan state. Moro is also able to directly absorb energy from his opponents energy attacks as well as directly steal all an opponent’s energy by grabbing them.

Telekinesis

Moro is capable of levitating objects in the air and then forcing them towards his opponents. In the past, he was able to perform this with several large comets, as well as bring people towards him, manipulate them to stop their movements or send them flying. Strangely however, it seems that his telekinesis can be “dodged” if the opponent is fast enough.

Electricity

Moro can surround himself in a burst of electricity, sending an array of electric bolts towards his enemies.

Energy Sensing

When Goku attempted to locate Moro by sensing his ki, he immediately stopped and warned Vegeta not to do the same, as he realized that Moro was able to sense other people, uh, sensing him, however that works. In addition, he is also able to scan for life and wherever they may be. The range for his scanning ability appears to extend across the entire universe. Eventually, his scanning ability was able to directly detect the locations of Dragon Balls. Finally, Moro can also hide his own energy, preventing others from detecting him.

Planet Energy

Moro is capable of using the life energy of the planet itself for a direct attack that ruptures magma from the very ground, attacking Moro's opponent. Moro can manipulate this lava to hone in on his opponent, making it very difficult to escape. After a while, this lava will harden, and may trap the opponent within it. This is not performed with Moro's own energy, but rather that of the planet itself, so the power of this attack is dependent on the energy level of the planet he is on. I can't tell you how I'd measure that, but Planet Namek's energy was powerful enough to threaten and harm Super Saiyan God Vegeta. Moro is also capable of propelling this lava into a sort of forcefield in front of him, making it so that his opponent can't hit him.

Finally, Moro can concentrate this energy into a ball which he can absorb, granting himself more power. While doing this, he not only saps away the energy of the planet, but also that of the plants and living creatures on the planet too, which includes his opponents. Doing this, he prevented Vegeta from transforming into Super Saiyan.

Ki Blast

Every Dragon Ball character has it, and Moro is no exception. He can fire multiple ki blasts at once, and while they aren't his most powerful technique, he has used them to blind his foes with the resulting dust debris. He can also create a much larger ki attack, one massive enough to cover a whole landscape and devastate a village.

Flight

Moro is capable of using his ki for flight, flying out in a burst of aura. He can even fly into space, which saiyans can't do, apparently.

Illusions

Moro is able to create illusions of himself to fool his opponents. While they first appear to possibly be after images, Moro later confirms that they are indeed illusions of himself.

Protective Barrier

Moro can form a protective aura around himself which aided him blocking an attack from the Grand Supreme Kai.

Memory Reading

Through some method, Moro is capable of viewing people's past memories. He was able to do this with the Grand Supreme Kai in order to determine that his God powers were completely destroyed along with Kid Buu.

Magic Empowerment

Moro is able to share his power among his underlings, allowing them some of his strength. With it, they were able to fight with Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta for a limited period of time, though they would be overpowered and had to rely on Moro absorbing their energy to force them to retreat. Moro is able to empower someone with so much of his energy that their own bodies over-exert themselves, causing them to die.

Explosions

Probably an attribute of his ability to control a planet's energy, Moro can remotely trigger explosions on the ground where his opponent may be.

Copy

After absorbing Seven Three, Moro gained his ability to copy adversaries. By grabbing the neck of someone, he can copy their abilities for himself, as well as gain instant knowledge of the names of their moves and how they work. Absorbing Seven Three, he is able to use all of the abilities Seven Three had copied without a time limit, however it is unclear if the same applies to the abilities he copied from Vegeta after he had already absorbed Seven Three. It is also worth noting that I am only including the abilities that Moro himself has displayed usage of for this analysis.

Regeneration

An ability copied from Piccolo by Seven Three, Moro possesses the same regenerative properties as the Namekian, allowing himself to completely regenerate lost limbs.

Barrier

Moro Is capable of projecting a massive barrier around himself that surrounds a large area, ensuring that nobody can flee from him.

Special Beam Cannon

An ability copied from Piccolo by Seven Three, Moro can use Piccolo's very own Special Beam Cannon, a concentrated beam of ki that pierces through his target.

Laser Eyes

For some reason, Moro can fire laser beams from his eyes. Pretty self explanatory power.

Ultra Instinct

By copying Merus's abilities, Moro himself was able to utilize Ultra Instinct, the godly ability that allows one to fight by moving purely out of instinct. He was even able to match Goku's Mastered Ultra Instinct in this form, and his body hardens as a result of his new ability. However, Moro has not trained to use this ability, and as such it pushes him to his limit, which will result in his death if he does not find a suitable body to withstand the ability.

Planet Biology?

Okay, so this is really weird, but Moro can essentially merge with the planet he is on. When doing this, he can grow out several giant limbed appendages from the Earth to fight on his behalf, which are powerful enough to restrain Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku. Moro also drains the energy from everyone on the planet as he is doing this.

Tirek

Energy Absorption

Tirek’s primary ability, he can absorb the magic energy of any living creature, even from ponies that don't use magic like earth ponies, who have their strength stolen from them and added to Tirek. He can use this on dozens of living things at once, as seen above, and can even perform this on characters whose power sources are more abstract, such as when he stole Discord's chaos energy for himself. When he does this, the person whose energy he has absorbed will become heavily exhausted, and in some cases faint. When Tirek steals the energy from someone, he also steals their abilities along with it, such as how he stole the pegasus's ability to fly and Discord's chaos powers. However, he can only use this on living beings, any non-sentient sources are outside of his reach.

Magic Blast

Tirek can use his magic to fire massive magic based energy attacks. These attacks are so powerful that they can do, well, what it does in the gif. He can even use them like lasers from under the Earth to uplift parts of the ground, if he were trapped underneath.

Telekinesis

Even since he was young, Tirek has known how to levitate objects and people in the air, and manipulate them freely with his mind. Tirek often uses telekinesis in combat, throwing enemies away into nearby mountains or simply immobilizing them in place. This power is so potent that he was even able to immobilize Discord with his telekinesis.

Flight

Having stolen the power of flight from the pegasus ponies, Tirek is able to fly through the air as fast as he likes, and even ram through whole mountains while he does so. His large size does not seem to hinder his mobility when flying.

Banishment

Tirek can open a portal to Tartarus, the very place he was banished to, and trap anyone within it. While in Tartarus, chains are automatically attached onto the prisoner, and it is guarded by the three headed Cerberus as well as sealed away from within with special magic. When Tirek and Cozy Glow were pulled away from Tartarus, Chrysalis said that whoever pulled them away from it must have been very powerful, suggesting that escaping Tartarus through standard magic isn't so simple.

Protective Barrier

Tirek is able to form a protective shield around his body from energy to protect him from any attack. Even when Twilight blasted him with a nuclear sized explosion, Tirek was completely unharmed thanks to his barrier.

Earth Shaking

By slamming the ground, Tirek is able to send a course of magic energy through it, creating protrusions out of the Earth that act as obstacles for his opponent.

Shockwaves

By punching the ground, Tirek is able to produce a massive shockwave capable of repelling several enemies in his vicinity.

Transportation/Entrapment

If he wishes to, Tirek can teleport anyone to his location and trap them within large bubbles that contain them. This was actually performed by Discord in the previous part of this special, which infers that Tirek is fully capable of using Discord's abilities after he had absorbed his power. This, obviously, has a lot of implications, but generally I am only going to stick with abilities that Tirek himself has shown to use and knows how to perform, especially given how Tirek himself acknowledged how difficult chaos magic is to control. Still, it does suggest that his abilities in this form are more expansive than you might think.

Forms

Moro

Depowered

Without very much energy, Moro is still able to hold up surprisingly well with the cast of Dragon Ball in his base form. Despite being completely depowered and with no magic, the Galactic Patrol still noted that he was still a competent fighter and was sentenced to death, but he was still so powerful that the Galactic Patrol lacked any method of killing him, even after ten million years. In base, Moro was able to completely evade all of Super Saiyan Vegeta's attacks, forcing him into Super Saiyan God. Moro was then able to contend with Super Saiyan God Vegeta by using the planet's very energy, and ultimately absorbed both his and Goku's energy.

Second Form

By absorbing the energy from New Namek and from Goku and Vegeta, Moro was able to retain his old form from before he was captured by the Galactic Patrol. He is far more powerful than before, and is even stronger than Goku and Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue transformations. Additionally, he went on to consume several other planets in the coming couple months, increasing his power in this form even further to the point that he was able to defeat Goku with Ultra Instinct Sign.

Third Form

A backup of Moro's combat ability was stored in Seven Three, a character who is able to copy other fighters powers and abilities. When Moro absorbed Seven Three, he was able to attain a new form, even more powerful than what he was at in his prime. Not only is he powerful enough to defeat Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta, even after their enhanced training, but he also has now attained Seven Three's copy ability, as well as any copy ability that Seven Three attained without any time limit.

Fourth Form

When Moro was about to lose to MUI Goku, he attained the copy ability of Merus the Angel before he faded from existence. With this, not only did his own power increase to match Goku, but he is also able to utilize Ultra Instinct. As Moro has not trained to attain Ultra Instinct, he cannot handle this form for very long, as his body cannot sustain the ability.

Fifth Form

Moro's final form, and it is very ugly. In order to sustain Ultra Instinct and Merus's power, Moro decides to merge his body with that of the planet itself. As he is merged with the planet, Moro will sap away the energy of everything and everyone on it into himself, and given enough time, Moro and the planet will detonate, creating an explosion capable of obliterating the galaxy. Moro becomes completely insane while in this state and the only way to stop him is to destroy the crystal on his head, which will ultimately kill him. Otherwise, galaxy goes kablewy.

Tirek

Depowered

Being depowered does not appear to hinder his ability to actually use magic or steal others magic. Even in this state, Tirek was still able to steal dozens of ponies magic at once to fuel himself. However, his magic is still rather weak while in this form, as being trapped for hundreds of years has dampened his magical output to a degree.

Second Form

Tirek’s “standard” form, this is the regular level of power he normally has after Discord disguised as Grogar lent him his power back. Although he's not especially powerful, he is strong enough to absorb the magic from the likes of Chrysalis in this form.

Third Form

This is the state that Tirek achieves after consuming the energy from many different unicorns, pegasi and earth ponies throughout Equestria. Here, he becomes so powerful that even Discord was unable to fight against his magical might. Tirek was also able to obtain this form after he received power from Grogar's Bewitching Bell.

Fourth Form

After absorbing the energies of all of Twilight's friends and Discord himself, Tirek became as large as a house and mega powerful. He's able to seemingly use Discord's own abilities as well as his power to stalemate Twilight while using the shared magic from Princesses Celestia, Luna and Cadence, and make many giant explosions that I feel aren't things you'd usually see in a girl pony show.

Fifth Form

After taking all the alicorn magic from Twilight Sparkle, which included the magic from Celestia, Luna and Cadence that she was holding at the time, Tirek reached his strongest form, growing to the size of whole mountains. He was then capable of completely laying waste to Equestria, containing essentially all the magic from within it, and at that point the only thing that could stop him was Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 using the true Elements of Harmony, the strongest source of magic in My Little Pony.

Cosmologies

Dragon Ball

I'll try to keep this concise. Dragon Ball's universe consists of two halves, the living universe where all of the cosmos exists in, and Otherworld, the spiritual universe above it where one's soul goes when they die. Between both of them is Hell, and outside of it is the World of the Kais, a smaller realm that orbits around the macrocosm. This is referred to as Universe 7, and there are 12 universes like this in the Dragon Ball multiverse, with Universe 7 being linked to its sister universe, Universe 6. Just based on its fundamental structure, Universe 7 in volume should be at least 3 times larger than the living universe, and measuring the whole scale including the distance from the World of the Kais it can get up to 15x larger than our observable universe. There is an argument that exists to get Universe 7 to over a thousand times larger than a regular universe, but I don't really agree with it. In the anime, Videl claims that she heard that Heaven, one of the planets in Otherworld, is as large as the universe. Following this, you could scale the planet to the macrocosm from the map to get crazy high results, but I don't really think this makes sense. First off, this statement comes from the Toei anime and isn't really congruent with how cosmology is depicted in canon. You can't use this statement to scale the universe off of Heaven because it directly compares Heaven to the universe, which is the living realm, the bottom half of the macrocosm. Am I supposed to believe that I should be scaling the universe larger than itself? Nuh-uh, that makes zero sense. I think it's likelier that she was just referring to Otherworld itself when she said Heaven, given that Otherworld is the second half of Universe 7, the other being the mortal universe itself.

My Little Pony

My Little Pony's universe by itself is only a standard universe, but it is one within an infinite multiverse of alternate realities. This multiverse includes the chaos dimensions, Discord's own domain, as well as universes of other generations of My Little Pony including G1, the IDW Transformers universe and their own multiverse, as well as Limbo, a space which exists outside of reality where time does not pass, an atemporal dimension. The cast of My Little Pony lack direct feats that would scale to their wider cosmology, so what's more relevant for the purposes of this blog is something even weirder: the cosmology of… their minds!

We touched on this a while ago back in our Bill VS Discord blog, which you can view here. In My Little Pony, a pony's mindscape is massive, being host to many different dreams created by the Nyx (a bunch of gremlin creatures from the moon), as well as the Infinite Hallway, a corridor of infinite possibilities and enterable mental realities and dreams that one can access, representing all of their possible choices they can make in life. In the episode Bloom and Gloom, we actually see that the Infinite Hallway exists outside of a pony's dream in a mental landscape beyond it. What this effectively means is that an individual dream is not the entirety of a pony's mindscape, but rather one small part of a larger mental realm which is host to many different mental dimensions, an infinite amount of them - all of this exists within each pony's mind. Really crazy to think about, Luna's dream shenanigans have always been the most esoteric aspect of G4.

Weaknesses

Moro

Moro has never trained a day in his life, meaning his power completely relies on his natural talent and the energy he has absorbed from other people and planets. Because of this, he is unable to handle extremely strenuous abilities, such as Ultra Instinct, without overtaxing his body. In addition, destroying the crystals in his body will shut down the abilities that he has copied, and destroying his crystal during his planet merged form will completely kill him - during the form, by the way, Moro becomes totally insane. Ironically, his greatest weaknesses come with his higher states of power, reflective of how his reliance on stealing power ultimately comes back to bite him.

Tirek

Tirek is pretty much useless without the energy he steals from others. In addition, his energy absorption only works on living things, and not non-living sources of magic. While he is rather cunning and possesses more hindsight than his counterparts, he can still be rather cocky and rash, which has led to him being tricked by Discord before.

Verdict

The Monster King

This Neo vs Kirito blog probably looks really strange to many of you. I made this as a personal project to try and make a blog completely by myself, I thought it'd help improve my blog making. I hope you weren't expecting a super extensive overview of everything Dragon Ball or MLP, I tried to keep this a smaller project for fun but I think it turned out alright. Now I'll talk about who wins.

I'm gonna be honest, Moro is frankly just Tirek's better in almost every way you could think of when you consider their standard abilities. To start, Moro is way older, having been around for at least millions of years, possibly more. That age isn't just for show either, he's actually succeeded in conquering and devouring hundreds of worlds before being sent to space jail while Tirek was just immediately sent to pony jail before he could even begin his conquest. He's also far more skilled than Tirek by virtue of being a Dragon Ball character and copying his opponents fighting skills in addition to their abilities from Seven Three, and he can even use Ultra Instinct, albeit for a period of time. Tirek may be more cunning, but I don't think that matters as much as battle prowess in a scenario like this.

Dragon Ball characters are known for being stat bricks, but Moro is actually pretty versatile in how he fights. Both of them have things like energy absorption, telekinesis, energy blasts, flight and force fields, but Moro can use electricity, illusions, read Tirek's mind, use the planet's magma and regenerate. He also has the extra abilities from other fighters via Seven Three's copy ability and can copy Tirek's own abilities if he wishes. Even with the abilities that they do share, Moro has shown to be much more versatile in how he uses them. I know that Tirek technically stole Discord's powers, but even when he did have them, he only really used them once and preferred to use his own abilities in actual combat. In Season 9 Tirek was also arguing heavily against using Discord's chaos powers from Grogar's Bell because of how difficult they are to control, so I don't really think they should be relied on here. He clearly doesn't want to use them, and if he was proficient and knowledgeable at using his abilities then his manner in Season 9 doesn't make any sense. Moro takes what I feel is a pretty clear advantage in abilities.

As for their main abilities, energy absorption, things don't get much better for Tirek. Tirek has never absorbed the energy of whole planets in seconds like Moro has, it's blatantly better than his absorption showcases. Tirek also is unable to draw away energy from inanimate objects, while Moro can use the energy of the whole planet in his battles. I wish I had more to say on this subject but when you put them side by side, nah, Moro is just obviously better.

It feels as if Moro should just kick Tirek's butt, but in order to win he still needs to be able to compete in stats, and this is where MLP gets messy in vs discussions. We know that Moro is far stronger and faster than Goku was when he did le shockwave punch, so as a DBS scaliwag he should be punching apart dozens of universes and moving quadrillions of times faster than light, but none of that really matters if Tirek can scale to infinite power and speed, so let's look into it.

First of all, if you know me then you know I don't agree with the Pony of Shadows statement implying he would have destroyed an infinite number of realities. PoS was clearly referring to conquering each reality, he says that he wants to make every reality empty like his, which is the universe that he was literally talking in and erm it's clearly not destroyed. It's just a poetic way of saying that he wants every reality to be fucked up and EVIL like how he had conquered his own universe. Similarly I think his statement about Celestia and Luna possessing infinite power for destruction was just referring to their potential to destroy things rather than any power level based on how it is stated, hyperbole moving on.

Beyond that is the weird Luna stuff, so I'm going to say my opinion on her general dream feats scaling to the beloved infinite hallway before going into the Bloom and Gloom feat. I think that dreams pretty evidently do not encompass a pony's entire mindscape as dreams are created by the Nyx, an outside force that injects them into a pony's mind while they sleep. We also see from the Discord and Luna comic in Friends Forever that there are multiple mental realms inside of someone's mind that exist independent of the infinite hallway, and the argument for the Bloom and Gloom feat would technically require that the hallway inherently exists outside of dreams, as that is how it's depicted in the episode. There is no reason to believe that affecting dreams would affect the infinite hallway.

That said, you can argue that Luna directly affects the infinite hallway anyways, as in Bloom and Gloom she seems to bring together the hallways of Scootaloo, Applebloom and Sweetiebell. Personally, I've had a hard time deciding my opinion on this feat, and I've changed my mind a couple times when thinking about it. I'll present and steelman arguments for both sides and you can decide whether you think it is viable or not.

For

There is a pretty obvious connection between the hallways in the episode and in the comic. They are both endlessly extending corridors of doors in a mental landscape with cutie mark symbols on the doors that then lead to different mental dimensions, the chances of it being a coincidence are so miniscule it would be absurd if that were the case. While the hallway in the comic may serve a slightly more specific role, there is no reason why it technically can't both be a connection between dreams and a pony's pathways in life. Since we see the full corridor of Scootaloo and Sweetiebell's doors, it is far likelier that Luna manipulated the entirety of their hallways as opposed to only an arbitrary amount.

Nowhere is it actually stated that the doors we see in Bloom and Gloom are actually the infinite hallway, this is an assumption that has to be made based off of purely visual similarities, but even then the doors in the hallway in the Discord comic are plain doors while the ones in the episode are clearly stylized. We know that these doors serve different purposes; in the comic, the infinite hallway is meant to represent the many possible futures that arise from one's choices, whereas the doors in the episode are just doors to a pony's dream, which is clearly very different and there isn't a way to harmonize this discrepancy without some awkwardness. It's likely these doors were just ways to show Luna leaving and entering different pony's dreams. It is entirely possible that this is legitimately just a coincidence, and the timing of it makes the whole situation even more weird. Comic writers take inspiration from the show on what to add, and this issue and the episode occurred in the same year, Bloom and Gloom in April of 2015 and Friends Forever #20 in September of 2015. It takes several months for a comic issue to be produced, not including how they were planned out in advance or storyboarded, so while it is technically possible for the comic to have taken the concept from the show it is definitely cutting it close. In addition, we don't actually know that their hallways were completely merged together, this is yet another assumption that has to be made for the argument.

Regardless of whichever we go with, I do believe that infinite/immeasurable speed is fine to scale for Tirek. While I don't agree with the PoS statement as a multi+ feat, he would have had to travel an infinite amount of realities to perform this conquest to begin with, and it is unlikely that he would fail at this narratively without anything suggesting so. Discord has also accelerated through time before and Cosmos has broken through reality and dimensions with her speed. You can't even argue Infinite Zamasu timeline crap to equate Moro to this level of speed because that is only in the anime. Tirek has a pretty solid speed advantage, so if we accepted him scaling to an infinitely sized space like the infinite hallway then he'd just smash Moro into the ground like a diglett. If we don't however, then this matchup becomes a lot more interesting.

Even without the hallway feat, there are still multiple universe affecting feats that Tirek could scale to. Still, the Dragon Ball universe is larger than the standard observable universe, and even though I haven't really relied on multipliers for this analysis there is still a lot of upscaling that comes from succeeding arcs and training and transformations. But because of his massive speed advantage, Tirek is going to get as many chances as he needs to set up his victory, so this becomes a matter of if Tirek can overcome a stronger foe before Moro sucks the life out of him.

Tirek's first option is to simply banish Moro someplace else, such as Tartarus. Chrysalis has suggested that especially powerful magic would be required to exit Tartarus, but like, Moro can destroy the flipping planet, so good luck with that! Well, at least I'm assuming that this takes place on the MLP planet. Tirek only really does anything in Equestria and Moro travels across planets so I imagined that would be the setting, but depending on what a neutral battlefield really means, then it might take place on some other random planet. If that were the case then Moro wouldn't really be able to go back in time and he'd be stuck in pony world for the rest of his days. I don't know, I don't really want to base the verdict on a weird technicality like that, so I guess your mileage may vary on that as a win condition.

Next is their energy absorption, which is where this really gets interesting. Remember how I said that Moro's energy absorption was objectively a lot better in nearly every way? Well that is mostly true, but it comes with a caveat now that Tirek is infinitely faster. Moro does have the range to always draw energy away from Tirek, but Tirek is fast enough to just take it right back before it could be finished as well as take Moro's own energy at a much faster rate. If Tirek can then just take Moro's energy then the fight is pretty much over, easy peasy lemon squeezy, but there's a problem with that. When Moro empowered Saganbo with his own energy, Saganbo became overexerted as his body couldn't sustain that amount of energy, and he died as a result. Moro himself lost because of this very reason as a matter of fact, his body was unable to sustain his stolen power. In My Little Pony, we have also seen that Tirek needed to absorb several ponies energy before he became powerful enough to absorb top tiers magic, so this kind of absorption limit is technically supported in MLP as well. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to quantify this sort of thing. On a base level, Tirek can scale to 2x universal and Moro can scale to 15x, so a little over a 7x difference. That doesn't sound like a lot, but remember that Moro has really massive upscaling from that point on, even if you didn't want to use multipliers. However, even then, Tirek's absorption also scales significantly above his own physical ability, and we have no idea how powerful Saganbo was before Moro juiced him up as he was kind of a featless goon. Ultimately, in my opinion I think that Tirek can probably do it. The exact limits are extremely nebulous, but Tirek was able to reach top tier status from regular pony level fairly quickly through his absorption power, and regular ponies need significant help in order to pull the moon. We're talking about cosmic levels of absorption ceiling here, and Tirek also has the Grogar's Bell to help him sap energy from Moro. Not to mention, Tirek's size and body changes to accommodate his newfound energies in a cartoonish way that Saganbo doesn't, so I feel like Tirek has just enough room to say that he'd be able to beat out Moro's energy absorption with his own and even the playing field to take the win.

But even if Tirek couldn't do this, and you don't grant him weird battlefield rules to give him a win from his banishment ability, he has one surefire way to victory and it comes all the way back to the very first My Little Pony animation ever, Rescue at Midnight Castle. In G1, Tirek possessed the Rainbow of Darkness, which could transform anyone and anything into beasts that are subservient to him. With it, Tirek can transform Moro into a monster that will either serve him or one that Tirek can more manageably destroy. Moro lacks any real defense against such an ability. I know that people like to scale every Dragon Ball character to every Dragon Ball character's resistances, but I never thought it made sense to do this in the case of Vegito's candy thing, where he continued to fight as a piece of candy. There is nothing saying that anyone could replicate this feat, and I don't understand why it couldn't be said that Vegito performed it through willpower or something similar. In fact, Moro often has trouble dealing with new forms that he is mentally unequipped to deal with, such as Ultra Instinct and his planet transformation, so I don't really see him doing that well if hit by the Rainbow of Darkness. And while yes this does require a composite, I am fine with granting it to Tirek as the MLP manga kind of establishes them as conceptually being the same character.

I feel like by this stage Moro needs a lot of things to go his way in order to win, and you'd need to deny all of Tirek's arguments in order for Moro to win. I mean, you can do that if you want, but I'm not really feeling it. I think that even without scaling to the infinite hallway feat, with his literal infinite speed advantage, Tirek is going to manage some way to take the win. Moro got Tirekt.

The winner is Tirek.
